To Pass Or Not To Pass

I recently came across an ongoing viral photo for anti-RH bill (image below).

I am disappointed that someone from a profession I look up to can shout conservative views on his chosen career. It's like saying, please don't take me seriously as an ob-gyne. :(

Well, here is my take on all his points.

I SUPPORT the RH Bill.

* I will vote for any candidate I find fit for the job. I don't think this is the time to bully candidates to take a stand on the RH bill and blackmail them to support one's group so that they may be elected come election time.
* I am a Catholic. But more so, a Filipino. I have been led to believe that the passing of a bill is not for one religion only.
* I am not an obstetrician-gynecologist. Nor the director of the FDA of any country. It is totally unacceptable for me to know that within the Philippines, an ob-gyne refuses to prescribe pills, injectibles and IUDS to women who ask for them. The very same pills that have been approved by the FDA. And for anyone's information, these pills have very elaborated details included to provide customers with the latest information regarding the safety of its products. If you're saying that the intake of pills will have adverse side effects that were not taken into account before the roll-out of the products, then you're discrediting the whole FDA system.
* I am not a medical educator. So I look upon the experts to educate the ordinary people about clinical facts of each medication and not to dictate the intake or non-intake of FDA-approved medications. And come on, it is as human beings that we have the obligation not to cause harm to others. Not just because you're a doctor, or a Catholic, or a Filipino.
* I am a taxpayer. But I am also a realist. I know that any bill passed can only work if the people running the country says enough to corruption. (For this, I want go back to my point of voting the right candidate for the job and not because it supports one's group.)
* I am a daughter, an aunt and a sister. I want everyone in my family to be educated about the reproduction system and sexuality from those who know them well. Who have been trained and have studied for the passing of knowledge. And admittedly, if anyone from my family starts asking me about the reproductive system, I will be at loss: a bit of embarrassment and a bit of lack of knowledge. Of course, I still want them to come to me for advice, someone who has experience having their hearts broken and making bad decisions out of love. But for facts; hard, clinical facts, I give that to their teachers and to the experts.

Ciao! I hope I don't offend someone. :))
